About Sarah

Sarah Bird is an award-winning Berlin-based, Australian singer-songwriter, renowned at home and abroad for the magical honesty of her voice and the powerful connection she creates with her audience. Her music pushes the boundaries of genre, merging folk with an electronic twist. Her sound is characterized by a raw elegance, ceaseless passion and captivating melodies that never fail to connect with her listeners.

Growing up in her hometown of Glen Innes, Bird’s passion for music began early. Listening to her parent’s records, she fell in love with the sounds of Stevie Nicks, Karen Carpenter and Joni Mitchell. Influenced by these powerful songwriters and frontwomen, Bird found an old, three-stringed guitar in the garage, initiating an illustrious music career. By the age of 15, Bird had recorded and released her first EP. Three years later, she moved to Sydney to pursue her music career. After two successful solo tours around Europe in 2015 and 2016, Bird committed to the international stage, setting off for the Cambridge Folk Festival with a one-man tent and her guitar. A six-month stint busking and playing shows across the U.K. led her to London, where she spent a couple of years before taking her music to Berlin. The city’s generosity and vibrant street art culture captivated Bird, and it wasn’t long before she called Berlin home.Among her many accolades, Bird is a two-time winner of the Musicoz Awards national songwriting competition. She has been a finalist for the International Songwriting Competition (ISC); the APRA Professional Development Award; John Butler Seeds Grant; Pacific International Top 20; and a two-time finalist in the Telstra Road to Discovery. Bird has received national radio play and performed in renowned music venues in Germany and Britain, and has performed at festivals including Cambridge Folk Festival, Fete De La Musique Festival, Edinburgh Fringe & Bristol Balloon Fiesta.
Bird is currently working on a number of exciting new projects, including collaborations with producer Patrick Liegl (Independent label, Guesstimate Berlin), Jess Henderson (London) and Tom Hunt (Grand Pavilion). Her singles “Slow Burn” and “Lights On” will be available this September!
